It is almost here - the real start of the season. I can't believe that I would ever see Miami as a 17 point underdog or whatever it is. Hopefully our team can live up to the hype and beat them down. As far as the theme goes, we are going with Cuban and Miami. Pick something good. I am going to rotisserie some pork for some Cuban sandwiches. Mmmmmm, pork, pickles, mustard and Swiss. Here it is... The tailgate that I have been looking forward to the most. The boys (and girls) will be up from south fla and we will have the most unusual tailgate ever - Jew Food! Thanks to Ruben and Little, we have decided to have food from the homeland. So far we have brisket, latkes, some sort of soup product, maybe some manischewitz, and who knows. Its gonna be awesome. Plus we will have a sweet post-gate while waiting for the bball game following the football game.

I am very excited about this year's UF-UGA game. The weather has changed a little. The Gator boys can smell fear in Sally Stafford. I am hoping for big things and a convincing victory. We shall see. Still trying to decide if we should have the first ever Frat Row Spot away from Gainesville or if we should just go to the Landing as usual. I am personally thinking a nice spot near the Landing could give us the best of both worlds. And we wouldn't have to pay $10 per beverage. Weigh in if you want and see you all in Jax.

Oh am I looking forward to this game. Last team to beat us. Night game. Espn. Mmmmm, sweetness. Now starts the meat of the schedule where we find out what we are truly made of. Time to see if Tebow is so good that he can carry us even with a mediocre defense. As far as food goes, I don't really care. I think the theme should be just good ol' tailgating food. The state of Alabama has about as much of a cuisine as Alabama men have teeth - not much. Barbecue and grilled stuff is really all what it is about. And a lot of it. We are going to be able to get in at least three full meals with the potential 10 hours of tailgating. Hopefully everyone will be able to make it to the game in one piece and remember it. I remember playing them in basketball a couple of years ago when they had that huge center. I also remember that we hung a hundred on them this past year on the way to beating them by 33. Well, now its time to destroy them in football too. The question is... Will the margin of defeat be bigger in football then it was in basketball? I say that it will, even though they went a respectable 6-5 last year.

I cant believe we won the SEC Championship. That game was definitely one of the more entertaining games I have watched. Something like 5 different quarterbacks were used. And not because of injury or anything, just trick plays and gimmicks. Awesome! I feel like I did when basketball finally got over the hump and won the SEC tournament. I am also really pumped for Chris Leak. Yeah, he has played a little tentative at some times and has made some mistakes, but really, what school isnt saying that about their quarterback. After all, only 2 schools are going to the BCS Championship Game. Also, as someone that used to eat breakfast with Chris at Gator (Ghetto) Dining, he really deserves his place in UF history. This seems to be another game that may be closer than we would hope. They won the conference last year and their running back is the reigning conference player of the year. Our D-line better play a lot better this week if we want this to go well. Hopefully we will shut them down. The first game of the year is against the lovely girls school of Southern Miss. No really, they probably arent that bad. I will say that the coolest thing about them is that Brett Favre went there, and that same Brett Favre did call Kevin a racial asian slur once. Awesome! He is ok in my book. I still hope we whoop the team though. As for the menu, place your suggestions. I think we can go one of two ways - cajun (since it is near the gulf coast) or barbeque. Here are some pictures of University Ave. The first is looking west from in front of the Swamp, the second is looking east. The third is looking at the Swamp from the middle of the road. The fourth is that building by the busses in front of the hub. Somebody awesome spray painted it. Click on them to see larger images.

Here is a quick movie that I took with my camera. Its really fast and makes you dizzy, but at least you can see how many people clogged University. Some reports say up to 30,000 people blocked all of the roads. It was so packed you have no idea. Huge chunks of roads everywhere were blocked off. It was awesome and we were dancing in the streets till 3 in the morning!

We all know we are in the sweet sixteen. We all know that Joakim Noah is the hottest thing since Vince Young after the Championship game. But what our overseas friends (and people that dont watch TV as much as me) may not know is that he was all over ESPN yesterday. On Around the Horn, on of the questions was who will be the most important player for their team. JJ, Morrison and Joakim were selected. On PTI, the question was asked who will be the best pro - JJ, Morrison, or Joakim. Morrison was selected but Joakim was second and agreed to have the most potential. He was also on SportsCenter a ton with people saying he may be the best player, fastest mover in the draft, most potential, lottery lock... But in the alligator today, he at least said that because of his dad, he doesnt need the money and lover school too much to leave. Who knows. Anyway, beat the Hoyas baby! Also, he is now the cover story on ESPN.com draft and up to #6.

Not many teams can say that they have ever beaten UK 3 times in a row. But now we can. I think it is pretty evident that Taurean Green and Joakim Noah are playing themselves into NBA consideration. Maybe in two years, they will be playing on the Heat. Also, how sweet were the shots of Erin Andrews when she was a Dazzler. Best ESPN reporter ever!

Also, I was trying to think about UF if Walsh and Roberson would have stayed. The starting line-up could have been Green-PG, Roberson-SG, Brewer-SF, Noah-PF, Horford-C. That would mean that Walsh and Humphrey would come off the bench. In fact our second team of Hodge, Humphrey, Walsh, Moss and Richard would possibly be a ranked team itself. Instant championship. Oh well, the current team rules.

At the basketball game against Auburn (still undefeated baby!!!), CJ Spiller was there on his official visit. For those who dont know, he is the #1 running back in Florida and the #3 running back in the nation. He was flanked by Tebow and Urban and was sitting in the Section A portion of the student section. The good news is that he got up twice and did the chomp. Also, he is from close to here and got his girlfriend pregnant so he may want to go to school locally. Bad news is that he grew up a Seminole fan. Hopefully the extremely loud chants of "WE WANT SPILLER!" and all of the girls throwing themselves on him have made him a Gator. He sure looked like he was ready to sign a letter of intent right there. That would give us quite the collection of skill position players. We shall see...

After a thrilling bball victory where FSU folded after getting out to a quick lead, the Gators came back and whooped some football ass on Saturday. It was almost FSU's first shutout in 17 years. It was great watching the Bobby Bowden show. "Dadgum this, dadgum that..." It was an awesome weekend. And with that, I guess we officially switch to being basketball fans. No more football until December 30th. Hopefully we can squeeze into the Outback bowl some how, but that aint likely. Oh well, maybe I will actually remember the Gator game this year since it wont be on New Year's Eve. For now, go Taurean!

Yeah I know Florida - Florida State in football is this weekend, but is it wrong that I am more excited about the basketball matchup. I am sure I am setting myself up for a March disappointment, but both basketball and baseball won something last year. Maybe the UF curse of being overrated is only still alive in football. In one of the biggest jumps in poll history, the Gators move from unranked to #14. Who knew Taurean would light it up for 23 on back to back nights against big time opponents in basically an away arena? Not me, but I cant wait for Friday. (Saturday might be alright too...) Thank crap Jemalle kept his feet in is all I am going to say. I guess for the first time this year, our offense clicked and our defense sucked. It reminded me of some of the games in Spurrier's later years (remember John Hoke anyone?). I dont care though, a win is a freakin win and we are 7-2 and still one tough football weekend away from a chance at the SEC championship. Damn these injuries are starting to piss me off. Wynn, Baker and Brown all in one game. At least Brown is the only one out for the year, but I really hope we can win without Brown. That certainly looks shady after this game. Hopefully Urban can coach up the new guys.

Basketball Begins

I think this is a record, but here's my third post of the day. This gives the first opportunity to use this site for basketball. I am looking forward to Seth posting comments with links about our bball team. It looks like an easy first week but with this young team, who knows. We have Embry Riddle tonight and West Florida Friday. I will be there and will see what we look like. Time for our boys to step up. Lets see if Horford and Brewer can pick up for now official NBA members Lee, Walsh and Roberson.

After two weeks of wondering, Meyer did what he needed to do and won against Georgia. Now, we are once again relevant in the national picture and have a decent chance of getting to the SEC Championship game. More importantly we rocked the crazy orange-sleeved jerseys. I say we take a vote on if people liked them. In person, I thought they were really cool. On TV it looked like the sleeve and helmet didn't match, but they did in real life. Let me know what you think...

Well, it was a successfull week. We didnt drop a game and the Bama and LSU game were some of the most entertaining games I have seen all year. Plus with Shockley going down, this could open up the SEC East for us. I know it sounds crazy, but it is still possible. This is a huge game this week. I will be there, who else is going? Lacey? A win here and we have beaten 2 rivalry teams in 2 games under Meyer. Sure, we lost to 'Bama, but that win is frankly not as important as wins over UT, LSU, UGA and FSU. Lets see if we can get them. Their offense looked atrocious against Vandy. So, as long as our Defense and Special Teams keep clicking, we may be back in the top ten.

I dont care if it was sloppy, but I will take being 5-1 anytime. Sure the offense looked like ass, but at least Wynn probably emerged as our clear cut number 1 back. Baker and Jackson continue to have big games even when Leak is struggling. Also, the defense seemed to take that Alabama game to heart and just flat out dominated the unfortunate Bulldogs. Put it in the books and lets get ready for next week.
